Melissa Stoner (Libraries), a project technician on the National Endowment for the Humanities-funded Historic Nevada Newspapers project, was one of 50 people selected to participate in the 2016 class of Emerging Leaders of the American Library Association (ALA). She was co-sponsored by the Library and Information Technology Association and the ALA鈥
David Schwartz (Libraries) has been reappointed to the Nevada Governor's Gaming Policy Committee, a 12-member committee that advises the governor on matters of gaming policy. 
Amanda Melilli (Libraries) presented at the Young Adult Library Services Association's 2015 Symposium with Clark High School teacher and 性视界传媒 instructor Ashley Nebe (Education). Their presentation, "A Series of Fortunate Events: Library Collaborations that help LGBTQ Young Adults Transition to College Life," focused on how academic libraries can鈥
Claytee D. White (Libraries) was elected to the Leadership Council of the Oral History Association. This national organization is celebrating its 50th anniversary next year.
David Schwartz (Libraries) won a 2015 Nevada Press Association Better Newspaper Contest Award in the Best Local Column category for his Green Felt Journal column, which appears in Vegas Seven.  
John Watts (Libraries) gave an invited talk titled 鈥淎ssessment and Academic Library Value鈥 at the 35th annual Charleston Conference in November. 
David Schwartz (Libraries) gave a presentation titled 鈥淟as Vegas Stories: The Remarkable Life of Kirk Kerkorian, Father of the Las Vegas Megaresort鈥 at the Clark County Library in November.   
Heidi Johnson (Libraries) was selected as one of three first-year academic librarian bloggers for the Association of College & Research Libraries鈥 blogging site, ACRLog. Read her first entry.  
Michelle Light (Libraries) co-presented a paper titled "The Evolving Archival and Scholarly Record" at the Society of American Archivists鈥 annual meeting. The paper shows how archival practices and expertise may help in the long-term management of new forms of scholarly communication.  
Susan Wainscott (Libraries) has been a key partner in a year-long, federally funded, multidisciplinary review conducted by the 性视界传媒 College of Engineering faculty of available literature and data on renewable energy and water resource projects in central Africa. She trained the research team in search strategies, assisted with hard-鈥
Karla Irwin and Emily Lapworth (both Libraries) presented Growing Pains: Implementing ArchivesSpace at 性视界传媒 Libraries Special Collections at the Amigos Library Services virtual conference. They described how ArchivesSpace, a open source collection management application for archival collections, was implemented in 2014 and has helped improve鈥
Doctoral student Erick B Lopez and professor Takashi Yamashita (Sociology) published their paper, "Acculturation, Income and Vegetable Consumption Behaviors Among Latino Adults in the U.S.: A Mediation Analysis with the Bootstrapping Technique" in the Journal of Immigrant and Minority Health.
