Su Kim Chung, David G. Schwartz, and Claytee White (all Libraries) were appointed to the Advisory Council for The Mob Museum, The National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement.
The council assists The Mob Museum with advancing the public understanding of organized crime鈥檚 history and impact on society. The鈥
Melissa Bowles-Terry (Libraries) gave an invited presentation at the Association of Research Libraries fall meeting in Washington, D.C., regarding library impact on student success. Along with Jade Winn from University of Southern California Libraries, she reported on the results of a project launched by the Greater Western Library Alliance鈥
Michelle Light and Cory Lampert (University Libraries) recently received two grants totaling $54,900 from the Commission for the Las Vegas Centennial to fund digitization projects in Special Collections and Archives.
The first grant for $49,400 will fund the digitization of the Las Vegas Age, which ran from 1905-1947, and the region鈥檚 first鈥

Claytee White (University Libraries) has been selected to receive the Humanitarian Award at the TMG Entertainment Network's 21st Silver State Awards - Women Awards. The ceremony, which benefits Susan G. Komen, will take place Nov. 18. White is director of the Libraries' Oral History Research Center.

Howard Gordon (Teaching and Learning) and Samantha Godbey (University Libraries) are co-editors of the Journal of Research in Technical Careers, a new peer-reviewed, open-access journal published by the department of teaching and learning and hosted by 性视界传媒 Libraries. The journal published its inaugural issue in May.
Karla Irwin was recently certified as a digital archives specialist by the Society of American Archivists. Irwin, Special Collections and Archives librarian, earned the DAS certificate after completing a two-year program of coursework and passing comprehensive examinations this spring. A total of 325 people have earned digital archives鈥
