Dr. Lily T. Garcia (Dental) co-authored Physical Evaluation and Treatment Planning in Dental Practice, 2nd Edition, which includes information pertinent when considering comprehensive treatment planning and specialists' perspectives for a wide variety of dental procedures. The book was published in July 2021.
Jeffrey Ebersole (Dental Medicine) co-authored 鈥淥ral Microbiome and Gingival Gene Expression of Inflammatory Biomolecules with Aging and Periodontitis,鈥 which appeared Sept. 17 in the Oral Infections and Microbes section of Frontiers in Oral Health.
Dr. Robin Weltman (Dental Medicine) co-authored 鈥淰ertical Ridge Augmentation (VRA) around Dental Implants with the Use of a Dense PTFE Membrane, to Correct Previously Failed Augmentations,鈥 which appeared online ahead of print in Clinical Advancement in Periodontics.
Karl Kingsley, Joshua Polanski, Camille Frayna, Christoffer Devantier and Braden Harris (all Dental) recently published the manuscript "Education Regarding and Adherence to Recommended Nutrition Guidelines among Dental Students" in Dentistry Journal, Special Edition on Dental Education.
The class of 2021 alumni Dr. Anthony Fusco, Dr. Syed Ahmed, and Dr. Jared Link, under the supervision of Dr. Tanya Al-Talib and Dr. Neamat Hassan (all Dental Medicine), published  鈥淧erformance of Different Orthodontic Brackets after Exposure to Dietary Components: An in Vitro Pilot Study,鈥 which appeared online Sept. 14 in the Open鈥
Dr. Frank Jones (Dental) directed two four-day live surgical implant courses in Tijuana, Mexico during July and August. The self-funded courses deliver free surgical care to individuals regardless of citizenship or current immigration status. The events, sponsored by several organizations including City of Las Vegas and UNR Extension, were held at the Windmill Library, Iglesia Evangelica Nueva Jerusalem Church鈥
Melissa Argueta (Dental) received a 2021 Mars Wrigley Foundation鈥檚 Healthier Smiles Grant of $5,000 from the American Dental Hygienists鈥 Association Institute for Oral Health. She will use the funds to expand the local Early Childhood Caries Prevention Project, which aims to reduce the number of cavities among children by the time they enroll in鈥
