Rebecca Benfield (Nursing) was selected for the highly competitive 2022 Sigma Theta Tau/Western Institute of Nursing Research Grant for her study, "An Immersion Intervention for Symptoms of PTSD in Student Veterans." She will be honored officially next month at the 2022 WIN Conference.

Bhatta (Sociology), Nirmala Lekhak (Nursing), and Sfurti Rathi (Public Health) have published an article, "The Intersection of Race and Financial Strain: The Pain of Social Disconnection among Women in the United States," in the Journal of Women and Aging. Yaa Obeng (Nursing) has been promoted to graduate engagement and retention coordinator. In this role, she will forge connections with graduate students, establishing positive and proactive relationships; track key metrics, identify student concerns, refer them to resources, and work with faculty on potential solutions.
Mary Bondmass (Nursing) recently spoke at the Better Medicare Alliance virtual roundtable, a discussion on access to high-quality health coverage. She presented among other health care leaders and U.S. Rep. Steven Horsford of Nevada. Jennifer Vanderlaan (Nursing) has been tasked to lead the newly announced Johnson & Johnson Midwifery Workforce Study. Vanderlaan and others will explore ways to improve access and integration of midwives in the U.S. This study is made possible by Johnson & Johnson, which awarded two grants to the American College of鈥
Jennifer Vanderlaan (Nursing) and Jay Shen (Public Health) co-authored a new publication, "Sociodemographic Disparities in Utilization of Childbirth Education," in the Journal of Health Care for the Poor and Underserved. Co-authors include former 性视界传媒 professor Tricia Gatlin.
Jennifer Vanderlaan (Nursing) co-authored a new publication, "Early Perinatal Workforce Adaptations to the COVID-19 Pandemic." The study focused on early pandemic response and ways to improve readiness.
Angela Silvestri-Elmore (Nursing) has been promoted to associate professor on a faculty-in-residence tract.
Jennifer Vanderlaan (Nursing) co-authored a newly published study, "Challenges to Interdisciplinary Consensus for Evidence-based Practice with Water Immersion for Labor and Birth: A Systemic Review of Scholarly References."  The study was published in the newest edition of Health Sciences Review.
Alena Grewal and Karyn Holt (both Nursing) authored an article, 鈥淐omparison of 12-Hour Biweekly Versus 6-Hour Weekly Shifts on Fatigue in Student Nurses,鈥 finding there was no statistical difference on fatigue in a 12-hour shift and a six-hour shift. The article has been published by the Worldviews on Evidence-Based Nursing Journal鈥
Hyunhwa 'Henna' Lee (Nursing) and her transdisciplinary team, including graduate students Maiko Suarez (Medicine), and Jacob White (Anthropology), published 鈥淓xosomal microRNA Differential Expression in Plasma of Young Adults with Chronic Mild Traumatic Brain Injury and Healthy Control鈥 in Biomedicines for the special issue Brain Injury鈥
