Viet Cuong (Music), visiting assistant professor in composition, was recently awarded the 2023 Frederick Fennell Composition Prize at the national College Band Directors National Association conference for his magnificent new work, Vital Sines. He received $10,000 in prize money.
Adam Schroeder (Music), saxophone professor and assistant director of 性视界传媒 jazz, was recently awarded a fully-funded grant from the Nevada Arts Council for performing artists in their funding cycle for Jan. 1-June 30, 2023. This grant will help bring to fruition a celebration of the music of jazz trumpet and jazz educator legend, Mr. Clark Terry,鈥
Michael Bubl茅 and his team of musicians, including 性视界传媒 professor Adam Schroeder (Music), won a Grammy in the category of Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album for his record "Higher." This marks his second Grammy win over the past three years.
Schroeder is an assistant professor of saxophone and assistant director of 性视界传媒 jazz.

Faculty member Andre Chiang, DMA, and recent graduate Valentine Baron, DMA, (both Music - Voice) presented different sessions at the 68th National Opera Association Annual Conference in Houston, TX. The sessions were titled, 鈥淒o That, Too: Honoring Your Whole Creative Self On and Off the Opera Stage鈥 and the 2020-22 Dissertation Competition winner鈥

The organization gives this award biennially for what it deems 鈥渢he most outstanding article on a subject in British music鈥 published over the previous two years. Andr茅 Chiang, D.M.A., (Music, Voice) recently performed the title role in Gianni Schicchi with Opera Mississippi on October 27, 28, and 29 in Natchez and Jackson, MS. He also opens a production of La boh猫me performing Marcello with Opera Western Reserve in Youngstown, Ohio, on November 11.

The National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia will perform the world premiere of DMA associate professor Diego Vega's (Music) ballet Esp铆ritu de P谩jaro on November 4 and 5, a work they commissioned to him in 2018. This premiere will take place at Teatro Col贸n in the city of Bogot谩, with choreography by 脕lvaro Restrepo, and music direction by鈥
