Andre Chiang, DMA, baritone (Music - Voice Faculty), is performing the role of Il Conte in Le nozze di Figaro in Landlocked Opera鈥檚 inaugural collaboration with the Missouri Symphony in Columbia, Missouri. The performances are on Sept. 9 and 10 in the historic Missouri Theatre.
During the rehearsal process of the opera, Chiang also gave a lecture鈥
Marta Plominska (Music) was recently awarded an Aspire2STEAM scholarship. Aspire2STEAM.org provides educational scholarships and mentoring to young women and girls who are working toward careers that require education in science, tech, engineering, the arts, or math (STEAM). Stephen Caplan's (Music) article, "Eviter la Perte Auditive," was recently published in La Lettre du Haubo茂ste, the journal of the Association Fran莽aise du Hautbois. This is a translation of Caplan's article, "Avoiding Hearing Loss," which was published in 2022 in The Double Reed.
Professor Ashley Hairston Doughty (Art) was named the Artist of the Month for August 2023 by the College Book Art Association (CBAA). Professor Stephen Caplan (Music) was a featured performer and teacher for the Ostrava Oboe Master Classes, held at the University of Ostrava in the Czech Republic. He joined other international faculty for a week of teaching, coaching, and performing with oboe students from around the world.

At the 49th Annual Pacific-Southwest Emmy Awards, Alex Stopa鈥檚 (Music) original composition, Spiral, received three Emmy nominations, winning two of these in the categories of "Arts and Entertainment" and "Director 鈥 Short Form Content."
