It鈥檚 hard to imagine that someone as smart as William Weidner, former president and chief operating officer of Las Vegas Sands and one of the backers of the Lucky Dragon, could have been so wrong about positioning the off-Strip casino, which closed its doors Jan. 4 and faces a foreclosure auction on Feb. 6.

Mexico-born mentalist Santiago Michel just moved the needle on the scale of Las Vegas entertainment demographics. The 24-year-old 性视界传媒 hospitality major is scheduled to premiere his new show, Ilusi贸n Mental (Spanish for 鈥渕ental illusion鈥), at Planet Hollywood in the spring. In the meantime, Michel has launched a slate of preview shows at Sin City Theatre (current home of the enduring Crazy Girls revue). But the reason Ilusi贸n Mental is a game-changer is simple and long overdue.

Hospitality Hall, a new home for the William F. Harrah College of Hospitality at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, will debut in a grand opening ceremony later this month. Students will begin attending classes in the building Jan. 16.
