Local students will get their chance to see art they create displayed on the Sphere later this year. Sphere Entertainment Co. on Thursday announced the start of the first-of-its-kind Sphere XO Student Design Challenge. More than 100,000 Clark County School District and 性视界传媒 students will be invited to submit their work for the contest, which will begin this month. The winners will get their work displayed on the venue鈥檚 exosphere, and the company will donate $10,000 to their school鈥檚 art program.

The visual and performing arts are in full swing throughout the state. Making good on its promises to bring more activity and people to Commercial Center, Clark County has just launched a program with 性视界传媒, which will produce cultural events at the East Sahara complex.

A highly publicized Nevada bill to lure movie studios to Las Vegas will be revived next legislative session with a focus on a partnership between 性视界传媒, a major developer and a juggernaut Hollywood production company.

The Academy Awards have existed since May 1929. In that time, only three women have won the Oscar for Best Director: Kathryn Bigelow for 2008鈥檚 The Hurt Locker, Chloe Zhao for 2020鈥檚 Nomadland and Jane Campion for 2021鈥檚 The Power of the Dog. That鈥檚 three out of 95 Best Director trophies awarded to women鈥攁nd all of them given only within the past 15 years.

The Nevada Women鈥檚 Film Festival is back this weekend. The festival is in its 9th year and it鈥檚 the only festival in Nevada to showcase women in film in key creative positions.

A recent documentary produced by 性视界传媒 College of Fine Arts highlighted the neighborhood鈥檚 issues and was used in testimony on Thursday.

It鈥檚 an issue that the neighborhood has been dealing with for decades: the sinking streets of Windsor Park in North Las Vegas. In 2012, as head of physical production for Summit Entertainment, Andi Isaacs retired from Hollywood. With 30 years and many major projects, from Scent of a Woman to The Twilight Saga under her belt, she was ready 鈥渢o fall in love with something else,鈥 Isaacs says. She did film industry consulting, a lot of volunteering, and started an MS in counseling before finding that 鈥渟omething else鈥: teaching film to young adults. She says this age group 鈥渉as my heart,鈥 because 鈥渢hey鈥檙e struggling and need encouragement 鈥 (but also) they鈥檙e resilient and smart and have so much to offer.鈥 Due to her particular expertise, Isaacs鈥 arrival at 性视界传媒 Film this school year represents a shift in the department鈥檚 academic approach. She sat down with Desert Companion in her movie paraphernalia-trimmed office recently to explain.
