The American Prize Award-winning 性视界传媒 Wind Orchestra performs 鈥淛oe鈥檚 Tango" at 7:30 p.m., on Nov. 16 in Artemus W. Ham Concert Hall. The concert features Distinguished Artist-in-Residence and principal trombonist for the New York Philharmonic, Joseph Alessi.
"The College of Fine Arts is very honored to have Joe Alessi as a Distinguished Artist-in-Residence during this academic year," said College of Fine Arts dean, Nancy J. Uscher. "Our students will be truly inspired by his artistry.鈥
The Nov. 16 concert, conducted by Professor Thomas G. Leslie and Zane S. Douglass, highlights a plethora of world premiere performances including: 性视界传媒 Wind Orchestra Associate Conductor Douglass鈥 transcription of the Main Theme from 鈥淐aptain Blood鈥 by Erich Korngold; Chick Corea鈥檚 Concerto for Trombone, featuring Alessi; Jorge Machain鈥檚 Five Cities featuring the internationally renowned brass quintet, Boston Brass; and a brand new composition titled, Triumvirate, composed by Machain to commemorate the collaboration of Maestro Alessi, the Boston Brass, and the 性视界传媒 Wind Orchestra on the release of their new album, Joe鈥檚 Tango.
