is the ӽ紫ý community’s day to rally together and make a difference. Each year, this day of giving raises money for student scholarships, groundbreaking research and innovation, athletics, the arts, vital resources to address food insecurity and mental health, and more. This 24-hour campaign is a time for students, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends to unite as one Rebel family, show our pride, and give back to the university we love!
Since its inception in 2018, Rebels Give has brought together more than 7,600 donors to raise more than $2.9 million in gifts to support ӽ紫ý scholarships and programs. This year the ӽ紫ý Foundation partnered with and Raising Cane’s to host giveback nights earlier this month to get the Rebels Give spirit flowing early.
Pie on Pida: A Sweet Tradition Returns
The annual Pie on Pida event will return to Pida Plaza on March 27. The event will feature activities including a DJ, photo booth, diamond painting with Rebel Events Board, and more. Students can participate in the festivities and earn Rebels Give swag like t-shirts, stickers, and a new edition of last year’s popular jibbit, or Croc charm.
The main event — the once-a-year chance to pie campus leaders with whipped cream — will take place from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Everyone is invited to join the pie party by donating $5 per pie to any cause on campus.
More than 20 members of the ӽ紫ý community are stepping up to the (pie) plate to raise money for their respective causes. Among the lineup are:
- Shawn Gerstenberger, dean of the School of Public Health
- David Cárdenas, dean of the College of Hospitality
- Rama Venkat, dean of the College of Engineering
- CSUN President Allister Dias
- Faculty from the Honors College, College of Liberal Arts, Lee Business School, School of Nursing, Greenspun College of Urban Affairs, The Lincy Institute, Brookings Mountain West, Office of Information Technology, Undergraduate Admissions, and the ӽ紫ý Alumni Association.
These volunteers will don PPE (pie protective equipment) and compete to bring out the most donors to pie them for their causes of choice. The top fundraiser will win the first-ever Pie on Pida trophy and bragging rights for the year
Get Involved: Ways to Make an Impact
The gives students, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends the opportunity to share the cause they care about most with their networks while earning incentives and competing against fellow influencers. The Student Philanthropy Council is offering student influencers the chance to win an iPad — for every five donations they receive through their influencer link, they will receive an entry into a drawing for the grand prize.
Students graduating this year can participate in Rebels Give by giving $20.25 in honor of their graduation year through the to any area of campus and will receive a special green generosity cord to wear during commencement.
If you’ve been collecting Rebels Give socks over the past three years, you’re in luck! The coveted sock incentive returns with a new design this year. Anyone donating $75 or more will receive a pair of Rebels Give socks while supplies last.
