Alum Andrea Walter ('11), c., directs actors Professor Adam Paul, l., and Abby Rey, r. on the set of their short film Edge of Daylight for ÐÔÊӽ紫ý Film's Filmmaker Vision Lab
The second edition of the Filmmaker Vision Lab returned this April featuring a week-long intensive led by alum Andrea Walter ('11) with her short Edge of Daylight.
The Filmmaker Vision Lab is ÐÔÊӽ紫ý Film’s intensive incubator program for emerging filmmakers of note to collaborate with our students on a short project that grants the filmmakers a finished project and students real-world experience.
Unlike any film program of its kind in the country, the Filmmaker Vision Lab at ÐÔÊӽ紫ý Film aims to bridge student coursework to practical creative practice with working filmmakers. This program invites working filmmakers with busy schedules to create useful short projects (proofs of concept, short films with feature potential, festival-destined projects) within a semester’s academic calendar to best accommodate student experience. Students work closely with filmmakers-in-residence to synthesize their learning with practical experience in the ‘home laboratory’ of ÐÔÊӽ紫ý Film.
Edge of Daylight was shot and edited over three days with a main cast of eight actors. The project then screened a rough cut for the cast and crew, including fellow alums editor Brian Merrick and cinematographer Rob Machado.
Walter is planning on submitting the film to festivals nationwide.
