Biography
Dr. Ronald J. Laux is a part-time faculty member in the ÐÔÊӽ紫ý School of Dental Medicine department of Clinical Sciences. He originally started working part-time in 2013, moved to full-time in 2015, and then retired in 2021. He returned during 2024 in a part-time capacity where he teaches operative dentistry and clinical care classes in the simulation lab, and also supervises student dentists in the patient care clinic.
A native of Buffalo, New York, Dr. Laux earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Canisius College, now University, in Buffalo. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the Marquette University School of Dentistry, and began working in private practice in Elmira, New York. For nearly six years, Dr. Laux served as a part-time associate professor at University of Rochester’s prestigious Eastman Institute for Oral Health in the Advanced Education in General Dentistry program.
Dr. Laux is a member of the American Dental Association, the Nevada Dental Association and the Southern Nevada Dental Society, and was a member of the New York State Dental Association and the Sixth District Dental Society. He has held numerous leadership positions in both states, including district president, council chairman, and delegate to the American Dental Association, New York Dental Association and New York State Dental Association conventions.
In addition, Dr. Laux is a fellow of the American College of Dentists and the Pierre Fauchard Society – only one to three percent of all dentists achieve membership, by invitation, in these esteemed organizations.
Dr. Laux prides himself on advancing excellence, ethics, professionalism and leadership in his role as a dental educator. He strives to contribute to oral healthcare, dental education, the profession of dentistry, and society in general.
