Biography
Anthony LaBounty is professor of music and the associate director of bands at the 性视界传媒 where he directs the 性视界传媒 "Star of Nevada" Marching Band, 性视界传媒 Symphonic Winds, the 性视界传媒 鈥淩unnin' Rebels鈥 Basketball Pep Band, and the 性视界传媒 Community Concert Band. Since his appointment to the faculty in 1988, he has helped develop the 性视界传媒 Bands to become one of the finest collegiate band programs in the nation. He teaches courses within the music education degree programs, and is an active clinician and adjudicator throughout the United States. He has served as a guest conductor and performer throughout Europe, Japan, Mexico and China. He has conducted and led special performances by the 性视界传媒 Community-Alumni Band at St. Patrick鈥檚 Cathedral, Dublin, Ireland (March 2009); at the Teatro Principe in Palestrina (Rome), Italy (June 2012); in Rothenburg, Germany (2015); and in Budapest, Hungary and Vienna, Austria (July 2018). In 2005 he directed the 性视界传媒 Band before an estimated multi-national Asian television audience of 340 million viewers in a special invited performance at the Cathay Pacific International Chinese New Year Parade and Festival in Hong Kong, China. He is past state chairman of the Nevada Chapter of the National Band Association, and is a member of the Phi Delta Kappa Honorary Fraternity, the National Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, and is a past member of the Texas Music Educators Association. In 2005 LaBounty was awarded 性视界传媒 College of Fine Arts Outstanding Teacher of The Year. In 2014 LaBounty was distinguished by election to the prestigious American Bandmasters Association.
LaBounty is a published composer of original works for band and symphony orchestra with performances at Kumin Hall [Tokyo, Japan], Khachaturian Hall [Yerevan, Armenia], Carnegie Hall [New York, NY], L鈥檈glise De Madeleine [Paris, France] and Reynolds Hall at the Smith Center [Las Vegas, NV], among others. In November 2017 his work Promise of Plenty for Soprano and Baritone solo voices and wind orchestra was premiered at the 3rd Annual 性视界传媒 鈥淧resident鈥檚 Concert.鈥 In Spring 2019, LaBounty鈥檚 composition Prophecy featuring Boston Brass hornist Chris Castellanos and the 性视界传媒 Wind Orchestra, Thomas Leslie, conductor was recorded on Klavier Records, and will also be available on iTunes. The world premiere of Prophecy was performed in Las Vegas on October 3, 2019. In June 2019, the world premiere of LaBounty鈥檚 composition Flight of Falcons was performed in Paris, France.
