Notice of Construction: Wall-Mounted Telephones Phase 2

As part of ÐÔÊӽ紫ý’s commitment to enhancing campus safety, the university is adding and upgrading phones and mounting them on walls in classrooms throughout campus for ease of access. The project is taking place in phases. Phase 1 concluded in December 2025 and included Carol C. Harter Classroom Building Complex (CHB), John S. Wright Hall (WRI), and Shadow Lane Campus (SLC). Phase 2 will begin this month. 

Wall-Mounted Telephones Phase 2: April 13 - June 15

Phase 2 includes installing 84 phones in new locations and upgrading 31 existing phones for a total of 115 wall-mounted phones in the following buildings: 

  • Advanced Engineering Building (AEB)
  • Paul B. Song Architecture Building (ARC)
  • Bennett Professional Development Center (BDC)
  • Maryland Administrative Building 2 (MAB2)
  • Lee and Thomas Beam Music Center (BMC)
  • Robert L Bigelow Physics (BPB)
  • William S. Boyd School of Law (BSL)
  • William D. Carlson Education (CEB)
  • Chemistry Building (CHE)
  • Campus Lab Building 2 (CLB2)
  • Science and Engineering Building (SEB)
  • Rod Lee Bigelow Health Sciences (BHS)

What to Expect

  • Work hours: 7 p.m. - 7 a.m.
  • Construction activities will be coordinated with class schedules to minimize disruptions
  • Rooms will remain accessible. Class relocations are not anticipated
  • Work may occur in hallways and other public places
  • Temporary signage will be posted in affected areas
  • Building occupants will receive at least three (3) days’ notice before construction begins
