The President's Public Purpose Grant Program supports efforts of 性视界传媒 faculty, staff, and students who wish to establish and/or to enhance mutually beneficial and reciprocal partnerships which align with the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching鈥檚 definition of academic community engagement and the university鈥檚 Top Tier 2.0 Community Partnership objectives.
性视界传媒 subscribes to the definition of community engagement provided by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching:
Community engagement describes the collaboration between institutions of higher education and their larger communities (local, regional/state, national, global) for the mutually beneficial exchange of knowledge and resources in a context of partnership and reciprocity. The purpose of community engagement is the partnership of college and university knowledge and resources with those of the public and private sectors to enrich scholarship, research, and creative activity; enhance curriculum, teaching and learning; prepare educated, engaged citizens; strengthen democratic values and civic responsibility; address critical societal issues; and contribute to the public good.
In addition to this definition, the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching provides guidance for higher education institutions regarding 鈥渞esources that demonstrate an institution鈥檚 commitment to institutionalizing and sustaining community engagement. Resources include funding dedicated to community engagement鈥攏ot for any activity external to the campus, (community-based) but for community engagement activity as defined by the Carnegie Foundation.鈥
