When Fallon resident Kelli Kelly walks across the stage at 性视界传媒鈥檚 Thomas & Mack Center tonight to receive her master鈥檚 degree in urban leadership, she鈥檒l do so knowing her work created real change. She鈥檚 being recognized as one of six outstanding graduates from this year鈥檚 class, finishing with a near-perfect grade-point average and an impressive roster of professional achievements. Her crowning moment came last year when the Nevada Legislature passed Assembly Bill 352 鈥 landmark legislation expanding cottage food sales regulations and establishing one of the first statewide frameworks for cottage cosmetics businesses in the country. The bill was Kelly鈥檚 passion project, and she鈥檚 quick to credit 性视界传媒鈥檚 support as a driving force behind its passage.

Nevada Attorney General Aaron D. Ford has filed a lawsuit against online social messaging platform Discord, marking his latest legal action aimed at protecting Nevada children from what he describes as failures by online tech companies. The lawsuit seeks to hold Discord accountable for designing its platform in a way that places young users in 鈥済rave danger,鈥 and for failing to adequately explain those dangers to Nevada parents.

Craig Hennigan and Dillon Brouwer (both Communication Studies) published "Creating an open-source novel dataset to analyze side bias in NFA-LD" in The Forensic of Pi Kappa Delta. This article documents the assembly of a large dataset recording collegiate debate rounds. A statistical analysis is included to determine if National Forensics鈥
Arthur D. Soto-V谩squez (Journalism and Media Studies), with co-authors Elizabeth Terrazas-Carrillo, Ediza Garcia, Karen Morales, and Arianna Requejo (Texas A & M International University), recently published "La T贸xica: A Gender Role Stereotype for Latinas and Its Perceived Influence on Intimate Partner鈥
Stephen Bates (Journalism and Media Studies) recently published 鈥淭he Strange Tale of Rincon Island,鈥 recounting an artificial island built off the California coast for oil and gas exploration in the 1950s, before the state allowed offshore platforms. Operator Richfield Oil Corp. subsequently created an adjacent artificial reef to increase fish鈥
Arthur D. Soto-V谩squez (Journalism and Media Studies), with co-editors Kim Fox (American University in Cairo) and Aram Sinnreich (American University), recently guest edited a symposium on "The Turn to Podcasts as a Mass Campaign Medium" in The Journal of Radio and Audio Media. The set of research articles focuses on when podcasting鈥檚鈥
Arthur D. Soto-V谩squez (Journalism and Media Studies), with co-authors Ariadne Gonzalez, Di Mu, Marcela Moran, and Cindy Salazar-Collier (all Texas A&M International University), earned the Top Paper Award in the Health Communication Interest Group at the 2026 Central States Communication Association.
