It’s a chance for engineering students to showcase their creativity at ÐÔÊӽ紫ý’s senior design competition. They are thinking outside the box and focusing on sustainability and water conservation.

Nearly 200 students across 47 teams put their classroom knowledge to the test, presenting their technology advancement ideas to a panel of industry judges.

There's still about a month left of school in the Vegas Valley, and 347 students have been hit going to and from school. Four children have died. These are Clark County School District, private school, and charter school students, as well as children too young to attend school.
With so many academic programs for cybersecurity still playing catch-up, the bipartisan, bicameral Cyber Ready Workforce Act would create a grant program to support registered cybersecurity apprenticeships.

With gas prices still high, everyone is doing what they can to save at the pump — including carpooling. A number of carpooling apps have given commuters new options, like Carpool Connect, which is available for ÐÔÊӽ紫ý students and staff.

After the state of Nevada suffered a massive cyber attack that caused major issues across a number of government agencies, ÐÔÊӽ紫ý has now set its sights on training students to monitor future potential threats. Last month, the university established the NIC. The goal is training the next generation of IT professionals. It also acts as a hub to serve state industries and government offices, helping them secure their data.
The fear that AI would replace developers has long been dismissed as "vague anxiety." However, in April 2026, a research team at the University of Nevada Las Vegas attached precise numbers to that fear for the first time. The team developed "PatchTrack," a tool that automatically tracks how much code proposed by ChatGPT has been incorporated into actual software, and collected 338 pull requests from 255 actual open-source projects. They then performed patch classification analysis on 285 of these merged requests.

At ÐÔÊӽ紫ý, which in March formally launched its Institute of Cybersecurity, the two-year Youth Rebel Start Academy within the College of Education, allows high schoolers to earn college credit and gain real-world experience through paid apprenticeships in multiple fields, including IT and cybersecurity. The ÐÔÊӽ紫ý Cyber Clinic also offers cybersecurity services at no cost to businesses that may need them, giving participants the chance to develop their skills in a hands-on environment.

Tucked between the hustle and bustle of the Las Vegas Strip and the tall timbers of Mt. Charleston, Skye Canyon is being promoted as a community built around outdoor living, wellness and connection. A group of former ÐÔÊӽ紫ý students is getting a rare chance to watch their work travel around the moon as part of the Artemis II mission. From 2015 to 2020, the students, led by longtime ÐÔÊӽ紫ý professor Dr. Brendan O’Toole, entered a cooperative agreement with Lockheed Martin to work on projects tied to Artemis II. The students have since graduated and now live in different parts of the country, but for the past 10 days, they have been reconnecting as they watch the mission and the spacecraft components they helped develop.

Student engineers from across the valley, the country and the world gathered at ÐÔÊӽ紫ý for the FIRST Robotics Competition Las Vegas Regional. The students’ high tech skills and ingenuity were on display at the Thomas and Mack. They have spent months designing, building and programming their robots from scratch.
