The ÐÔÊӽ紫ý Division of Wind Band Studies is proud to present the award-winning ÐÔÊӽ紫ý Wind Orchestra in its highly anticipated 2024-25 concert series opener, "Bernstein Brilliance!" at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3 in Artemus W. Ham Concert Hall.
Join the orchestra, conducted by Thomas G. Leslie and Dr. Zane S. Douglass, for an extraordinary evening of music as they celebrate the musical mastery of the great Leonard Bernstein.

Featured pieces include Clifton Williams’ Fanfare and Allegro, ÐÔÊӽ紫ý alumnus Jorge Machain’s Guiding Light, and Vincent Persichetti’s O Cool is the Valley. The featured music of Leonard Bernstein includes his ´¡³Ü³Ù´Ç-»å²¹-´Úé&²Ô²ú²õ±è;from Candide. In addition, two moving transcriptions by ÐÔÊӽ紫ý doctoral conducting student Ocean Akaka will be presented: Bernstein’s Opening Prayer, featuring special guest vocal soloist, ÐÔÊӽ紫ý alumnus Richard Hodges, and Make Our Garden Grow from Candide, once again featuring Hodges alongside five exceptional ÐÔÊӽ紫ý vocalists: Courtney Schwalbe, Madelyn Salazar, Christian Shelton, Aaron Oberlander, and Joshua Thomas.
