The ÐÔÊӽ紫ý School of Music invites the public to its annual Spring Jazz Festival, a three-night celebration of jazz performance featuring the university's most accomplished student ensembles and guest artists. Concerts will be held April 27 through 29, with each evening beginning at 7:30 p.m. in Artemus W. Ham Concert Hall. Tickets are available here or at the ÐÔÊӽ紫ý Performing Arts Center Box Office.
Night One Monday, April 27
The festival opens with performances by the Harmon Avenue Vocal Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Shaddai Johnson, and Jazz Ensemble III, directed by Dylan Musso. The evening promises a dynamic mix of vocal artistry and instrumental ensemble work that will set the tone for the festival ahead.
Night Two Tuesday, April 28
The second night features the Studio Scarlet Jazz Vocal Ensemble, directed by Lara Vivian Smith, alongside the Latin Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Pepe Jimenez. The program also includes a performance by Jazz Ensemble I, co-directed by Dave Loeb and Nathan Tanouye, with a special appearance by guest faculty saxophone artist Adam Schroeder.
Night Three Wednesday, April 29
The festival concludes with Jazz Ensemble II, directed by Tristan Selzler, the Maryland Parkway Jazz Vocal Ensemble under the direction of Gary Fowler, and the Contemporary Jazz Ensemble directed by Julian Tanaka. The closing night promises a fitting and memorable end to a weekend-long celebration of jazz at ÐÔÊӽ紫ý.
