性视界传媒 Police Services has unveiled its latest tool in helping provide a safe environment to the 35,000 students, faculty, and staff who frequent the university鈥檚 campuses.
The RebelSAFE app delivers important safety alerts and gives users instant access to campus safety resources along with a host of other services to enhance the safety of the university community.
鈥淲e are proud to add another layer of safety and protection to the campus community,鈥 said 性视界传媒 Police Chief Jos茅 Elique. 鈥淪tudents and employees thrive when they are free and safe to focus on their work. RebelSAFE provides the peace of mind to quickly connect with us at any time.鈥
RebelSAFE features a speed-dial section to request a late-night campus safety escort or to instantly access emergency services. Users can also report a non-emergency crime tip, chat with police dispatchers via text-based communication, and send their location to a trusted contact via GPS.
鈥淲e want everyone on campus to feel safe at every hour,鈥 Elique said. 鈥淲e鈥檙e proud of the services we provide, and RebelSAFE makes obtaining those services effortless.鈥
The smartphone app, developed by App Armor, is available for free via iTunes and the Google Play Store.
The university offers multiple layers of protection, notification, and other safety features to 性视界传媒鈥檚 campuses in case of an emergency. The campus emergency notification system, known as RebelSAFE Alerts, sends text messages and emails to all enrolled cell phones and email accounts in the event of an emergency or closure at the university. Rebel SAFE Alert messages are also posted to 性视界传媒 social media platforms, campus building video monitors, classrooms, and the 性视界传媒 homepage. 性视界传媒 routinely tests this system.
Also, 性视界传媒 Police Services in a partnership with CSUN is in the process of constructing 18 new emergency phone systems that include live streaming video and speakers. The phone towers are being placed strategically around campus for instant access to 性视界传媒 police dispatch. The project is expected to be complete this semester.
