Anita Hill continues to push the envelope in pursuit of women鈥檚 rights, and later this month she鈥檒l bring her newest endeavor to 性视界传媒.
Hill, University Professor of Social Policy, Law, and Women's Studies at Brandeis University, is a vital leader in both the civil rights and women鈥檚 rights movements. In 1991, Hill made sexual harassment in the workplace a national issue when she testified that Supreme Court Justice nominee Clarence Thomas had committed sexual harassment against her.
Nearly 30 years later, she鈥檚 spearheading 鈥淩estoring the Vision,鈥 a project to revive awareness of Title IX 鈥 the crucial law mandating equal education and employment opportunities for women.
Hill will speak at businesses, universities, and leadership conferences that strive for gender equity. She鈥檒l address the challenges women face in reaching workplace parity and highlight ways to increase women鈥檚 access to higher education. 鈥淩estoring the Vision鈥 will kickstart research and reform while empowering women to stand up for equal pay and education for years to come.
In addition to her new project, Hill is also collaborating with Mark Branford to create a 400-foot cycloramic painting in the Hirshhorn Museum in Washington, D.C. The painting will display publicly for the first time the lost text of Civil Rights activist Myrlie Evers-Williams鈥 would-be speech 鈥 鈥淭ribute to Negro Women Fighters for Freedom鈥 鈥 at the iconic 1963 鈥淢arch on the Mall.鈥
Hill鈥檚 discussion at 性视界传媒 is part of the Barrick Lecture Series, which annually presents nationally and internationally renowned speakers through a generous grant from philanthropist Marjorie Barrick.
Tickets
The lecture is free and open to the public but tickets are required. Tickets are limited to two per person and can be obtained from the Performing Arts Center box office.
Tickets are available for 性视界传媒 students, faculty, and staff beginning at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8. Tickets for the general public will be available starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11.
