"What's the Problem Here? Feminism and Environmental Analysis" will be the topic when University of Vermont professor Joni Seager speaks at 性视界传媒 on Feb. 20.
Part of the University Forum lecture series, Seager's talk is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in the Classroom Building Complex, Auditorium A-110. The event is free and open to the public.
The author of "Earth Follies: Coming to Feminist Terms with the Global Environmental Crisis," Seager is a professor in the departments of geography and women's studies at Vermont.
She argues that the environmental crisis is not just the sum of ozone depletion, global warming, and over-consumption; it is a crisis of culture precipitated by the masculine assumptions that shape modern institutions and modern life.
Seager is the author of "Women in the World: An International Atlas" and "The State of the Earth." She has served as a commentator on environmental and feminist topics for CNN, National Public Radio, and the British Broadcasting Corp., and has written for "The Village Voice" and "The Women's Review of Books."
