Four ÐÔÊӽ紫ý students will spend the spring semester working at the 1995 Legislature as a result of internships sponsored by the ÐÔÊӽ紫ý Foundation.
The interns will work for the leadership in both houses of the Legislature. The session will run from Jan. 19 to approximately July 1 -- slightly longer than the academic semester.
To be eligible for the internships, students must be undergraduates with minimum grade point averages of 3.0. They must submit a written statement on why they think the experience will be worthwhile, along with two letters of recommendation. Students from all majors are eligible. The application deadline is Nov. 18. An interdisciplinary committee will select the interns.
While in Carson City, the students will receive six hours of political science internship credit and a stipend of $5,000 to cover living expenses. The interns will be required to write a final report on a policy issue followed throughout the session and keep a journal chronicling their activities during the Legislature.
With the University of Nevada, Reno, and Western Nevada Community College nearby, students can take additional classes if they desire.
