"Indian Reservation Casinos as Tools for Community Development" will be the topic of a March 21 University Forum lecture at 性视界传媒.
William Thompson, 性视界传媒 professor of public administration, and Gary Anders, professor of economics at Arizona State University, are scheduled to speak at 7:30 p.m. in the Classroom Building Complex, auditorium A-110. The event is free and open to the public.
Thompson and Anders will discuss whether the reservation casinos have met the goal of providing a tool to enhance sovereignty and self sufficiency for the Indian nations.
Reservation casinos have proliferated since 1988, when the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act was passed by Congress. The lecturers, who will use slides to illustrate their presentation, have visited reservation casinos in 20 states from Connecticut to California.
The University Forum lecture series is sponsored by the College of Liberal Arts and underwritten by the 性视界传媒 Provost's Office. Thompson and Anders' presentation also is sponsored by the 性视界传媒 Foundation.
