Making an Impact
Across campus and throughout Southern Nevada, 性视界传媒 students, staff, and researchers are making an impact. They鈥檙e ridding homes of harmful contaminants, providing free or reduced-cost healthcare to children and families, and helping individuals with disabilities better navigate the world around them. They鈥檙e also addressing pressing social issues, preserving our region鈥檚 history, honoring veterans, and brightening the lives of local children.

Med School Momentum
The 性视界传媒 School of Medicine 鈥 fully funded and operational 鈥 is changing the healthcare landscape in Southern Nevada. The school is an emerging leader in medical education and innovative practice that鈥檚 training future Nevada physicians, driving research breakthroughs, and elevating patient care for a diverse, urban community. The school鈥檚 charter class wrapped up its first year in 2018, the second class is off and running, and its physician-faculty are hard at work improving quality of life for the region鈥檚 residents.

Rebel Academy
As the Clark County School District continues to wrestle with a teacher shortage, one way 性视界传媒 is responding is Rebel Academy, a fast-track teacher certification program for professionals from fields outside education. This summer, soon-to-be teachers gained hands-on experience in course curriculum development, lesson planning, and real-life classroom instruction under the guidance of mentors. Participant-teachers were eligible for fall hire by the school district and returned to campus this fall to complete required coursework for full licensing.
Improving Mental Health
性视界传媒 is a committed partner in the effort to tackle Southern Nevada鈥檚 pressing mental health challenges. The university is bolstering staff in student wellness, researchers are expanding on the nation鈥檚 first NIH-funded research on mental health and student-athletes, and practitioners are offering services 鈥 and advice 鈥 for the community.

Thanks to overwhelming support from students, alumni, faculty/staff, and the community, 性视界传媒鈥檚 inaugural Rebels Give fundraising campaign in October raised more than $930,000 through 2,256 gifts 鈥 in just 1,957 minutes 鈥 to support hundreds of programs on campus. Earlier in the fall, 性视界传媒 also announced a $5 million commitment from Boyd Gaming Corporation 鈥 the largest corporate commitment in the history of 性视界传媒 Athletics. 鈥

Giving the Community an Economic Spark
性视界传媒 started 2018 with the opening of Hospitality Hall, the new academic home of the world鈥檚 top-ranked hospitality college. The building serves as a bridge between the gaming industry and its future workforce. A July groundbreaking for a four-story innovation building at the 性视界传媒 Harry Reid Research & Technology Park marked the start of the master-planned development envisioned by 性视界传媒, the 性视界传媒 Research Foundation and Gardner Company. The 性视界传媒 Tech Park will serve as a catalyst to unite business, research and technology and advance economic development efforts in Southern Nevada.
Nevada鈥檚 economy is also poised to prosper with the arrival of the NFL鈥檚 Raiders to town, an agreement assisted in part through the work of 性视界传媒鈥檚 International Gaming Institute.
