From that first email from ÐÔÊӽ紫ý (subject line: You are a Rebel!) Kylies Fung knew ÐÔÊӽ紫ý had what she was looking for. The culture, diversity, and environment were all part of what made up the experience for this two-time graduate.
As an undergraduate, Kylies accepted an internship at McCarran International Airport through the . After completing her bachelor's degree, she continued at the airport as an airport contract specialist — a perfect fit for someone who loves travel. Now with her master in public administration, Kylies is ready to take a little time to relax and investigate additional certificate programs.
Undergrad vs. Grad
I think my undergrad and my grad experiences at ÐÔÊӽ紫ý were very different. For my undergrad, I was way more involved. I was always on campus — working at , helping at orientation, connecting with students, being part of Greek life, and being part of different organizations. My undergrad was very full.
For my grad experience, it was less time on campus, more working and going to classes. However, I did get pretty close to my cohort and professors. I think it's because grad classes are more intimate due to the typically smaller class sizes. It gives you more of an opportunity to engage in class with your cohort and professor. My grad program was very cohesive and lots of work. Undergrad was more about having fun, being involved, and just living in the moment. For grad, it was more about engaging in class.
Opportunities Abound
As a prospective student or an incoming new student, many students might not know the different options there are when it comes to the types of graduate programs that ÐÔÊӽ紫ý offers. ÐÔÊӽ紫ý has numerous opportunities, from participation in different types of research to the various classes offered that could expand your knowledge in different areas. Lastly, ÐÔÊӽ紫ý has so many opportunities for students to have an impact on each other and the community.
Best Advice
Get to know your classmates and professors. Not everyone knows it, but the talent that exists in every single program at ÐÔÊӽ紫ý and the faculty is extraordinary.

We know this isn't how you imagined finishing up your degree ... How has COVID-19 affected your last semester?
For one of my elective classes, we were supposed to work with R&R Partners to do a huge campaign/town hall meeting to advocate anti-bullying; however, we had to find another way to do this project virtually instead of an in-person event. Additionally, for my final capstone course, we aren’t able to complete our field research on our capstone project. For both classes, we were able to find other ways to finish virtually. Lastly, not being able to celebrate with my fellow graduate classmates and not being able to attend graduation is a disappointment.
