The Evolution & Regulation of Sports Betting and Prediction Markets

Description

This intensive three-day program examines the structure, function, and oversight of sports betting and prediction markets. As sports betting and prediction markets continue to expand and converge, understanding their underlying mechanics and regulatory implications is increasingly critical.

Through a combination of expert-led sessions and case study discussions, participants will analyze the market, regulatory frameworks, consumer protection issues, and integrity risks. The program equips policymakers, regulators, and industry leaders with the tools needed to navigate evolving regulatory environments while fostering innovation.

This three-day onsite event will start at approximately 9 a.m. PT each day. The full program schedule will be emailed to each participant within 72 hours of the program's start.

Course Content Includes:

  • Current State of US Sports Betting & Prediction Markets - An examination of the status of legislation, tax, licensing, and revenue projections across the US.
  • Federal Law Updates 鈥 Post PASPA, what federal laws affect your sports betting operation? Which laws do prediction markets fall under, and what are the current legal challenges states have raised against prediction markets?
  • Operational Models & Vendor Contracts - What do new and existing jurisdictions need to look out for when soliciting and negotiating contracts with vendors?
  • Sports Betting Basics and Terminology - Handle, hold, over, under, vig, juice. Learn the basic terminology and common bets.
  • Sports Wagering Advertising/Marketing - A closer look at the controversies surrounding gambling advertising and how to employ advertising best practices.
  • Sports Wagering and Public Policy - Learn about retail and mobile sports betting and current regulatory issues.
  • Enforcement Issues 鈥 Get insight into regulatory enforcement, the role of law enforcement, administrative approvals, integrity, and best practices.
  • Sports Wagering & Responsible Gaming - Understanding the basic principles of responsible gambling and the operator's responsibility to create and sustain RG programs. How do these differ from the rules that govern prediction markets?
  • Sportsbook Tour: A tour of a local sportsbook that includes Q&A and an information session.

Admission Information

This is an in-person, three-day seminar that will take place at the 性视界传媒 Stan Fulton Building from August 11-13, 2026.

Program participants are responsible for their own travel and accommodations. 性视界传媒 will provide a light breakfast and lunch each day, as well as transportation to and from the sportsbook tour.

Ticketing Details:

The program's curriculum is primarily designed for:

  • Gaming regulators from either commercial or tribal jurisdictions
  • Gaming agency staff
  • Board or Commission members
  • Legislators
  • Policymakers
  • Sportsbook operator staff

However, the program is open to anyone with a current interest in the evolution of sports wagering and prediction markets.

  1. In the event a course is canceled, registrants will be notified as soon as possible and receive a full refund of their registration fee.
  2. A service fee of twenty percent (20%) will apply to all participant-initiated cancellations received seven or fewer days prior to the event.
  3. All cancellations and refund requests must be made in writing. Refunds granted for credit card charges will be credited to the original account charged. No refunds will be given in the event of 鈥淣o Shows.鈥 Refunds may take up to three weeks for processing.
