Addressing National and Local Oral Health Needs

The Mobile Dental Clinic plays a crucial role in improving oral and overall health by addressing dental needs early. According to the surgeon general, at least 80% of American adults have gum disease, but the impact goes far beyond the mouth. Poor oral health increases the likelihood of other health issues including stroke, dementia, heart disease, and some cancers.

In Nevada, adult residents fall below the national average for seeing a dentist regularly, as do the state鈥檚 children, ages 1 to 17, in receiving preventive dental care. Many residents also face a number of challenges in receiving regular care including geographic isolation, provider shortages, insurance gaps, transportation limitations, and limited health literacy. The Mobile Dental Clinic addresses these obstacles through the preventative and restorative dental services it offers.

The Mobile Clinic鈥檚 Objectives

  • Our Mission: Create a future in which all Nevadans, regardless of geography, income, or background, have access to comprehensive oral healthcare that supports long-term wellness and dignity.
  • Our Vision: Improve oral health equity across Nevada by delivering high-quality, accessible dental care to underserved populations using a mobile, community-based service.
  • Our Goals: Expand access to oral health care, promote cross sector integration, support sustainable operations, contribute to CBPR Consortium - ADAPT, and enhance workforce training. These goals create a comprehensive framework for delivering immediate care while building long-term capacity for oral health equity across Nevada's vulnerable communities.
